I thought I would write another travel blog to add to my collection of thoughts.
For my course, we are supposed to write a travel blog of a trip we took over the Christmas holidays and I chose to write about my trip to my favourite city in which I had visited...Liverpool which I like to think of as scouse boy heaven!
So I thought I would write about my second trip, which I took a few days ago to Guildford.
It all started as an idea of one of my best friends, Jessie lives in the big G so we decided we would defo have to take a trip southbound to get a glimpse of Guildford and most importantly visit the martin household.
10am Monday morning, I usually don't see this time as I think it's far too early on a holiday break yet we had a important journey to undertake and sammy wanted to miss the traffic. I get a call from sam and hes outside...I am still in my pajamas...bad times however a few cups of derby's finest tea down our necks set us up ready for the journey ahead. Yep 5 hours of me...sam was extremely excited. I would just like to add I do like tea now I have tried so many new things from being at uni such as tuna and now I can add tea to my list, how exciting.
Yes so we set off to B'ham as I like to call it (Birmingham by the way) to pick up soph or maloney as we like to call her on to our road trip. I shotgunned the front seat...you snooze you lose I tell you.
I was quite worried about the sat nav's potential to actually get us the whole way there but we reached B'ham fine, and we admired the sights of a pregnant teenager effing and blinding on the side of the road. After a little break to stretch our legs and re-charge the ipod which was tired of the journey and the band, soph gave us a tour of her courtyard which was gorgeous...trinity square eat your heart out. We threw maloney's jasper conran holdall into the boot of minty (we named Sam's car) and off we went again...next stop the services...give me high 5!
Ooh hello burger king or burgaaaaaaar if your french...it did cost me an arm and a leg for a double cheeseburger yet it was so worth it. The service of the burger king servers was so shit though, I have to add, she first forget me Tommy k, then forgot me drink and then gave me a dirty look when I asked for BBQ sauce, if there was a customer complaint sheet I would of been all over that. Anyways onwards and upwards I like to say as the journey continued further south.
We checked Kate to see how long we had left until our reunion with jessierooo...2 hours and we will be in Guildford-land...yaay!
After the third trip around the roundabout sammy finally realised which turning we had to turn off at...I thought I would sing a bit of Jason Derulo to calm the situation down....Sammy didn't like my singing very much.
We saw the Guildford sign approach and we all were very excited and admired the pretty view of the flower covered roundabouts and manicured lawns it certainly beats Birmingham any day...sorry maloney
Helloo martin household...we finally pulled up on the drive and a sigh of relief passed through us all as we sat on the garden bar style thingy with a big glass of echo falls finest...reunited with our jessieroo we were looking forward to the night ahead.
The rest of the day consisted of viewing a lovely hillside which I thought looked like a postcard you got in the uni express shop in a good way like! however as the wind was raping our hair we hit good old m&s for our tea and more wine for our venture we were most looking forward to...dusk anyone?
Dusk is a famous nightclub in the guild and we'd heard so much about it we couldn't wait to sample what dusk had to offer! Which later in the night we found out was a proper sweaty club which bangin tuneeeeees...I actually sweated in places I never knew you could sweat from which was rather groose but who cares when your jumping around to Tine Tempa...I did actually think I was gonna 'Pass Out' it was that hot. It was such a funny night from dancing to Ricky Martin in wetherspoons thanks to Jessica Martin's recommendation to the DJ, Sammy and Billy having a full on dance off in dusk when Sam threw that coat at me I knew he was ready to perform and this was one serious dance off, We endured billy eating a chili kebab in the taxi home which I think didn't help the situation of me wanting to chunder everywhereeeeee after that sambucca. I did then chunder but in a lady like fashion. Bad times but one hell of a night!
To sort the hangin situation right out we headed to guildford town centre where we sat in Coffee Couture (which is my new fave place) and had a bree, cranberry and bacon panini which was quite orgasmic is was that yummy. Guildford reminded me a bit of heartbeat in a way as it is very country like with it's farmer market and jam selling, there was even a miniature pony...sam said I wasn't allowed to ride it though, there was also a goat...the goat decided to show us what it had for breakfast was not a nice sight when your hangin I tell you that. Then there was 'Amazing Tom' the amazing part I think is questionable, as his best trick was pushing his whole body through a tennis racket. yep il move on... we had such a nice day wondering through Guildford it's seriously like spot the chav...I certainly wasn't in derby anymore. Everyone was well dressed and mainly head to toe in Jack Wills I did feel quite under dressed in my primark dress oh well I like to call it cheap chic. We went to have a gander at the famous castle where Jessie said the King still lived there...we found out he didn't, but we did enjoy sitting on the grassy banks whilst sam abused the big issue seller. Bad Sam.
After our Guildford town adventure we climbed back into the Kerrmobile, and went back to Emily's for biscuits and tea...yum! Em's mum kindly bought us a whole bag full of BBQ treats I actually felt like Father Christmas was shining down on us that day as we are students and poor.
So back we went to Jessie's to have a BBQ sesharoo followed by an evening consuming wine into the late hours whilst discussing life issues such as 'Why is Big Ben called Big Ben?' and not 'Bob' or 'Barry'? I still wonder this?. However I have saved the best bit of the food till last...the cheesecake, I must admit I am very much a cheesecake lover so when this beautiful creation was brought out I extremely excited and even licked the plate it was so yummy!
Sammy woke us up at 9am as I had slept through two alarms on the dreaded last day...we packed our things and said our goodbyes to Jessie...it was very emotional soph nearly cried bless Maloney! although we knew we would be reunited soon in notts town.
So with Kate plugged in, we were off on our travels back to our humble homes, the journey home consisted of me frapping Sammy's facebook with love messages to myself about how much Sam loves me...Sam wasn't too pleased an threatened to open the door on the M25. What a journey...Soph sung to N-Dubz and I had eaten a whole packet of gummy snakes to keep quiet from distracting Sam...it wasn't a good idea I felt a bit chunderish after them.
Guildford is such a heart throb for fashion lovers as from designer stores to vintage boutique it really has something for everyone. I would really love to live there one day when David Beckham finally meets me and admits his instant love me but for now derb town will have to do or personally I think the martins should adopt us all then we can live in the Guild!...who's up for a bit of that then?
I had the best three days and I wish we could of stayed there longer and I think a return will defiantly be in order in the summer if Jess will have us again...it was a fab trip to spend with my good friends and look forward to when the whole crew is down together...I feel like I should say 'Amen'...but I won't.
